Geoffrey Chaucer coined the phrase “all good things must come to an end” in his epic poem Trolius and Criseyde. Unlike most versions of the Greek myth, Chaucer’s is about accepting that outside circumstances sometimes intervene so that you’ve got to walk away from something precious to you.
So, I find myself saying goodbye to Whiskey Tit Journal. I’ve had the honor of serving as the journal’s inaugural Managing Editor for over four years. It’s been a blessing to read and publish writers who inspire and impress me, accompanied by artists of impeccable talent. But now, alas, life has conspired to tell me that my time here has come to an end.
I would like to thank the 116 (!!!) writers I’ve had the pleasure of publishing, and the countless more who trusted me to read and review their work. Submitting is an act of faith, and I’ve taken my responsibility to submitters seriously.
I’d also like to thank Head Tit Miette for offering me the chance to run Whiskey Tit Journal and for affording me complete creative freedom in doing so. I’m a lucky duck. And, of course, I’d be nowhere without my beloved friend, trusty “lackey,” and creative partner, Consulting Editor Philip Shelley. Philip, your unshakeable belief that art is serious, valuable, and deserving of our undivided attention has always inspired me. And it always will.
In a true blow to my ego, Whiskey Tit Journal will bravely go on without me. I’m not quite sure what’s next for the journal, but I’m thrilled that you can’t count WTJ out.
Take care. Listen to the song Take Care by Big Star in my honor. Read literary journals. Support writers. And remember that single-spaced documents are the devil’s playground.
It’s been real. Find out what I’m up to next on meaganmasterman.com
Love,
Meagan Masterman
Managing Editor
